Neena Newberry Receives Dallas Business Journal's 2018 Minority Business Leader Award

Dallas —Febuary 20, 2018 — Executive coach, speaker and author Neena Newberry was named one of the recipients of the Dallas Business Journal’s 2018 Minority Business Leaders Awards.

The awards, presented in February 2018, recognize “minorities who are instrumental in their organization’s success or who are leaders in promoting diversity” according to the Business Journal.

Newberry was one of thirty honorees. She was recognized for her leadership of Newberry Executive Solutions, a firm that helps leaders — particularly high-performing women — develop and accelerate business results. “Our class of honorees represent the best of the best in North Texas,” said Traci Merzi, publisher of the Dallas Business Journal.

LEAD2016 at Nashville, TN —February 4, 2016 — Distinguished recipients of the Leadership Excellence Awards for 2016 were named today for outstanding achievements in leadership development and programs in the areas of Education, Corporate, and Individuals at the LEAD2016 event being held at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. The prestigious Leadership Awards salute the world’s top leadership practitioners and programs and highlight their roles in developing their most important asset - their people.

For more than 33 years, Leadership Excellence, now a part of HR.com, has identified and recognized the top leadership organizations and their strategies and solutions in a yearly ranking by appropriate category. This year, the ranking process and award categories were streamlined and updated to better define the leadership efforts nominated.

The WOW! Women On the Way to Peak Performance ProgramSM (WOW! ProgramSM) was a partnership between Newberry Executive Solutions and Sysco Corporation. Designed to help high-potential women achieve greater career success and to have a bigger impact on the business, the program: • Strengthened leadership skills in areas that women often struggle with, and areas proven to drive high performance • Provided relevant content and tools that are easy to implement and that get results • Was delivered in a simple, structured, meaningful way

Neena Newberry designed the WOW! ProgramSM to make it easy for companies to implement with audio and exercises to prepare participants before attending each monthly in-person meeting, where they applied the content further. Two officers at Sysco, Sandra Carson and Raina Avalon, facilitated the meetings, bringing invaluable company perspective and experience to the program.

Sysco’s results are exciting. Over 50% of the women have since been promoted, crediting some of the shifts they made to lessons they learned through the WOW! ProgramSM. Participants shared many examples of how a particular module had had a significant impact on how they approached a project or their daily work and, consequently, their business results. The women are more confident and better prepared for challenges in the company, and are paying it forward in ways we hadn’t expected, expanding the reach and impact of the WOW! ProgramSM.

This program was also recognized with a second award, the Winners’ Circle award for Best Executive Coaching. The complete list of this year’s award winners will be published in the February edition of Leadership Excellence Essentials. The Leadership Excellence publication will also feature interviews from select top award winners in each category in upcoming monthly issues starting in April. These interviews will outline each program’s unique qualities that made them a Leadership Excellence Winner.
